Summer in Ireland

For those who want something beautiful, a little wild, and best experienced slowly (with very good company)

About this trip

An Irish summer is vibrant color.

The days stretch a little longer, the greens get even greener (somehow), and there’s always something happening: a great meal, a coastal drive you didn’t plan to love quite so much, or a village you want to move to.

Our adventure begins as we settle into a private estate, our home for the week, complete with a private chef, plenty of space to gather, and a short walk away from a secluded beach on the Irish coast.

This is the kind of trip where mornings ease in slowly, days are wind blown and epic, and evenings tend to end around the table, full in every way.

We’ll explore the wild beauty of Ireland’s coast (yes, including the Cliffs of Moher), take in some of the most iconic stretches of the Wild Atlantic Way, and spend time in the kinds of places that make this part of the country so special…small villages, local spots, and a few very good surprises along the way.

Expect a mix of sea air, beautiful landscapes, excellent food, and just enough spontaneity to keep things interesting.

It’s thoughtful, a little bit indulgent, and designed for people who like their travel to feel as good as it looks.

Property FAQ

  • A design-forward country house stay
Classic English charm with a modern, slightly playful edge. It’s refined, relaxed, and deeply rooted in its countryside setting

  • Rooms with character
Individually designed spaces across the estate, each offering comfort, calm, and thoughtful details (no cookie-cutter hotel rooms here)

  • Come prepared for countryside living
Spring layers and comfortable walking shoes are key. This is a place for fresh air, footpaths, and settling into a slower rhythm. (This is also the time to pack the wellies or borrow ones from the hotel.)

Important Notes

  • Rooms are limited and vary in layout.
Choosing your space early is recommended - especially if you have a strong preference or need for room type.

  • Guests who come solo but want to share a room with a fellow solo guest may do so, pending availability. But note: Beds are not able to be split. Please email me directly at hello@wanderandwelcome.com for more info.

  • Weather: Expect mild, fresh Irish air with long, sunny mornings, sea breezes, and occasional light rain. Temperatures are generally comfortable, but a light jacket and layers are recommended. We’ll send a suggested packing list so you’re prepared.

  • Walking & Terrain: No vigorous hiking here, but being able to walk on uneven surfaces, along coastal paths, stairs, and maybe a little mud is important. Think leisurely exploration, not a workout. Comfortable shoes are your friend.

  • Who This Trip Is For: Curious, flexible travelers who love incredible food, charming villages, coastal scenery, and a bit of local Irish adventure. You’ll get the most joy if you enjoy long dinners, good conversation, and soaking up the small, perfect details that make West Cork so special.

A Few Things to Know

  • Expect walking: 2–3 miles a day, sometimes on uneven, slick, or hilly ground.

  • Passport Requirements
U.S. travelers will need a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity beyond your travel dates is recommended). No visa is required for stays under 90 days.

  • Entry Requirements
At this time, there are no special entry requirements for U.S. travelers beyond a valid passport, but we’ll keep you updated if anything changes closer to departure.

  • Currency
Ireland uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s helpful to have a small amount of cash for smaller purchases.

  • Pacing
This is a thoughtfully paced trip—full days, but never rushed. Expect a balance of exploring, eating well, and having time to actually enjoy where you are.

Payments & Policies

  • This trip is nonrefundable, for any reason.
(We know—no one likes fine print. But our partners and accommodations require upfront commitments, and we honor those relationships.)

  • We highly recommend travel insurance to protect your investment, especially for things like flight delays, cancellations, illness, or unexpected life detours.

  • Look for a “cancel for any reason” policy if you want maximum flexibility. Sites like Squaremouth can be helpful to compare different providers.

Getting There & Back

Fly into/out of:

  • Cork (ORK) – Closest airport

  • Dublin (DUB) or Shannon (SNN) are also options – You will need to find your own way to Cork.
