Christmas in the Peak District

Cozy fires, cream tea, and English Christmas charm

The kind of trip where the only thing on your to-do list is showing up and slowing down.

About this trip

Come ye foodies, literary lovers, shoppers, and beauty lovers. This trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit a special part of England in the year of Jane Austen’s 250th birthday celebration.

This trip is somewhere between a holiday and a period drama - but with better food and central heat.

We’ll wander through coveted (and hard to get into) artisanal Christmas markets, stroll the grounds of Chatsworth (think Pride and Prejudice) at watch the lights turn on, and eat well - very well. Expect crackling fires, countryside charm, lovely humans, and a surprise or two.

A trip for anyone who’s dreamed of experiencing English Christmas magic - and a few days where someone else handles the details.

It’s perfect for friends, couples, or solos - really anyone who needs a few days of English holiday charm to kick away the clouds.

Highly unlikely that I’ll offer this specific trip again, so come now and be a part of a truly bucket-list trip.

A Few Things to Know

  • Expect walking: 2–3 miles a day, sometimes on uneven or hilly ground

  • It’s December in the English countryside—cold, less daylight hours, possible precipitation, probably magical

  • Pack for coziness, layers, and adventure

  • This trip is best for those who feel comfortable moving through the outdoors at a gentle pace

  • Travel Note: New UK Entry Requirement
Starting in 2025, U.S. travelers will need to apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) before entering the UK.
It’s quick, online, and inexpensive—but don’t worry, I’ll remind you when the time comes and walk you through it.

Payments & Policies

  • This trip is nonrefundable, for any reason.
(We know—no one likes fine print. But our partners and accommodations require upfront commitments, and we honor those relationships.)

  • We highly recommend travel insurance to protect your investment—especially for things like flight delays, cancellations, illness, or unexpected life detours.

→ Look for a “cancel for any reason” policy if you want maximum flexibility. Sites like Squaremouth can be helpful to compare different providers.

Getting There & Back

Fly into:

  • Manchester (MAN) – Closest major airport

  • or London (LHR or LGW) – If you want to make a longer trip of it

From London:

Exact time and location will be shared later but expect a midday pickup (around 1PM).
→ If you're arriving that morning, book a flight that lands by 10:00 AM.
→ Want to arrive a night or two before? We’ll send hotel recs.
